SYMMES TOWNSHIP --

Potions, tempests in test tubes and other wizardry from the laboratory are now available for educating and entertaining children, thanks to a new franchise of Mad Science.

Eugene Wulsin is the owner of Mad Science of Cincinnati LLC, the franchise of a Montreal-based organization that provides hands-on experiences to children ages 4 to 12.  Personnel conduct programs in schools, camps, community centers and can be booked for birthday parties and other special events.  All programs are correlated with Ohio state proficiency tests, Mr. Wulsin said.

"The programs are inquiry-based, so it's not just somebody standing up in front of kids telling them things," Mr. Wulsin said.  "The idea is to engage the children and get them to drive the program."

The business is at 9430 Loveland-Madeira Road.  Information:  793-6784 or www.madscience.org/Cincinnati.
