SANTA COPTER

What you need:
  • Santa Copter
  • Scissors
  • Paper clip

What you do:

  • Print Santa Copter.
  • Cut among the solid lines
  • Fold along the dotted lines and bend up the end of the strip.
  • Fold one rotor in one direction and the other in opposite direction.
  • Drop your Santa Copter!
  • Optional: Attach a paper clip to the bottom of the helicopter

    What’s going on?

    -          As the helicopter falls, air rushes out from under wings causing it to rotate. At the same time air hits the body of the helicopter, pushing it forward which results in rotating action.

    -          Air pressure is all around the helicopter, just like it is all around us.

    -          The air pressure pushes down on the top of the helicopter causing it to fall, it pushes up on the bottom of the helicopter causing it to hover slightly as it falls and it pushes against the body of the helicopter causing it to spin and it falls to the ground.

    -          Paper clip gives more weight to the helicopter making it spins faster.
