Fire and Ice
In the land of Fire and Ice our Mad Scientist starts with a magic trick, which uses fire to make a card disappear and magically reappear. Fire is used again to get our overweight friend Eggbert into a tight home. Eggbert introduces the concept of air pressure and leads us to the “Amazing Bernoulli Effect”, which we use to float small and large balls in mid-air. Finally, in the ice portion of this event, we startle the crowd with amazing experiments using frozen carbon dioxide gas at 109°F below zero.
Up, Up, and Away
Let our Mad Scientist teach you about the many uses of that much misunderstood state of matter, gas. After a Mad Science magic trick, we treat our audience to a series of experiments that demonstrate the power of gas. Volunteers from the audience attempt to pull apart the amazing Magdaburg Sphere, launch a hot air balloon, and use Papa Vortex to create smoke rings. This event concludes with The Mad Science Hovercraft and a dinosaur sneeze from “Jurassic Park”.
Spin, Pop, Boom!
How do you know that a chemical reaction has occurred? After this event your students should know. Beginning with a change of color in our chemically challenging “magic” trick, we will then treat them to an assortment of chemical and physical changes: an amazing sound comes from our Flaming Didgeridoos, a genie erupts from a flask with the help of a catalyst, two liquids combine to form a solid in an exothermic reaction and finally, a geyser of hot foam astounds the crowd.
Space
3…2….1….Blastoff!!! Did you know it would take you 16 days to fly to the moon if you could take the fastest jet possible? How long to the sun? Before you can even conceive of any of this you have to first figure out how to leave the gravitational pull of the earth – not an easy challenge. This show examines all the laws of physics and their affects on flight and ability to travel in space. Newton’s three laws of motion are interactively tested by brave volunteers from the audience and different forms of air travel are demonstrated, where one lucky guest gets to ride our very own Mad Science rocket car.
Winter Holiday
Are you looking for the perfect touch of winter fun to add to your holiday event? Our Mad Science Winter Holiday Special Event is just the thing. Our 45-minute presentation will have your audience gasping and laughing at the Mad Scientist’s exciting and merry science experiments. Through a mixture of science and magic the children will see a playing card vanish only to reappear again neatly gift-wrapped! Kids will hear how Eggbert became Santa’s helper and will help the Mad Scientist get Eggbert through a chimney using science. Watch as our special Snowman is de-frosted right before their eyes! The audience will also discover how Jack Frost can fill an eight-foot air bag with one breath. Then, as a grand finale, the Mad Scientist will introduce the audience to a mysterious North Pole rock that turns out to be Dry Ice. Using the Dry Ice, the Mad Scientist will make bubbling potions, popping corks, shivering quarters and clouds of fog. All will have an evening of giddy goodness and festive fun!
