These themes are a great blend of assembly show fun and the enriching atmosphere of workshops. They are perfect for summer as they bring together the best of entertainment, learning, and fun! Explore Science events are designed for minimum 25, and up to 49 school-age kids (not for PreK). Events are scheduled for those going into 1st-3rd grades, and/or 4th-6th grades next school year. Each group is lead by a Mad Scientist with at least one, and possibly two assistants, depending on the number of kids registered.
Each theme is one hour in length. So if you would like to schedule a half day, three themes would go from 9a to Noon, or 1p to 4p (no lunch period). For a full day, you would have six themes running from 9a to Noon and 1p to 4p, with lunch and break from Noon to 1p (kids bring own sack lunch). Cost per child is $8, $13, $17, $20, $23 or $25 for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 themes respectively.
For half day or full day events, we strongly encourage taking advantage of our Pre- and/or Post-“science care”. These run from 7:30a to 9a (morning period), and 4p to 5:30p (afternoon period). The Mad Scientist will keep the kids busy with science story reading time, and science games, puzzles & DVDs. Cost: $5 per child per period.
Each half day or less includes a wonderful Mad Science tradition of a Make-&-Take (M&T) of your choice. So for more than a half day, you get two M&Ts of your choice. Those to choose from are listed with each theme below. Also listed are additional M&Ts you may add on if you want more than one/two, at $2.25 per child.
We can do the Explore Science themes at your place or ours. If done at your place, there is a $15 travel charge for Greater Des Moines (If you are not in Greater DSM, please call for the travel rate). Terrific Technology – M&T choice is our Periscope. Add-On M&T: Technicolor Walking Blender.
