Camp Descriptions

EARTH EXPLORATIONS
(Ages 4-6)

This is a great opportunity for inquisitive young minds to uncover the hidden stories in rocks, sand and fossils.  Discover the world around us, from oceans to mountains and volcanoes to earthquakes.  Have fun sifting for “gemstones” and uncovering dinosaur bones.  Learn about the awesome forces of nature that shape our world and learn what fossils and shells tell us about the creatures of the earth.  Take-home projects are created each day as we let imaginations soar.

CRAZY CHEMWORKS
(Ages 6-12)

This action-packed camp explores the chemistry of everyday life! Kids will both learn and apply the concepts, tools and techniques of real chemists! Campers will learn real lab techniques and safety procedures, and use these throughout the week to mix crazy concoctions and chemical combo’s. They will experiment with super-sticky-stuff, explore glow-in-the-dark technology, mix potions, make slime, and grow crystals! Each camper will take home a full set of Mad Science lab gear!

SECRET AGENT LAB
(Ages 6-12)

Step into the shoes of a detective—uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis. Become a super sleuth and learn clever ways of performing tasks in this hands-on view of the science that spies use. From decoding messages to metal detectors and night vision, campers will have the opportunity to check out spy equipment, and discover the technological tools of detection!

CREATURE FEATURES
(Ages 4-6)

Have your little ones become mini wildlife experts for the week!  They will have fun learning about the habitats, diet, and adaptations of animals that live all over the world! Throughout the week campers will craft masks of their favorite animals, build ocean collages, and even create their own creature feature to take home. Cooperative games will allow for a stimulating environment while reinforcing the science themes during the week. With so much wild, wild animal science, your campers might become zoologist themselves!

ROARING ROCKETS
(Ages 7-11)

This action packed week will focus solely on rockets and the physics of rocket flight. Young rocket scientists will build multiple designs and participate in daily launches. After learning the model rocket safety code, they will prepare for launches, perform the role of altitude trackers and launch rockets propelled by water and solid fuel engines. Hands-on activities will get their creative juices flowing when they test the laws of physics that keep rockets in space, build a simple telescope and a model of Saturn. Houston…We have lift-off!

RADICAL ROBOTS
(Ages 8-12)

From sound sensing to complex, programmable robots, this camp will teach engineers-in-training how robots work and how they are used in the world around them. Campers will discover the science of electronic circuits and how robots use sensors to control their movements and explore their environment. They will work together to build a life size kinetics robot to help understand the “insides” of a robot. Young scientists will get creative when building a model robot and construct their own working robot to take home and show off to their friends and family!

S.T.E.A.M. ROLLERS
(Ages 7-12)

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math are all explored in this exciting new camp! Participants will have fun problem solving and designing solutions to engineering challenges. They will assemble and work with a variety of simple machines including pulleys, levers, catapults and mega-pinchers before tackling “Super Power Sources”. Young scientists will uncover the strength behind architectural formations before they fabricate their own super structure. This new camp is guaranteed to provide a challenging and captivating experience for any junior engineer!

DESTINATION EARTH
(Ages 6-11)

In this new camp, children will have fun with hands-on experiments that will increase their understanding of our good ship Earth—from its atmosphere down to its molten core! They will create tremors and measure the results with tools similar to real scientists while they discover why we have earthquakes and tsunamis! Campers will learn how animals are camouflaged and go on the hunt for scents and tracks, and study the dietary habits of large predatory birds by dissecting the contents of its craw! Discover what adversely affects our planet as we explore conservation.

INCREDIBLE FLYING MACHINES
(Ages 7-11)

Conquer the forces of nature as we experiment with numerous   flying machines. Follow the development of aeronautics from Leonardo da Vinci to the Wright Brothers’     as we experiment with the principles of flight! Campers will construct different airplanes then test their designs in a wind tunnel. Over the course of the week, junior test pilots will launch a variety of flying machines including; balloon copters, a hovercraft, paper airplanes, kites, Frisbees, parachutes, a solar bag, stomp rockets, solid fuel rockets and more! You are cleared for takeoff!
