MAD SCIENCE SPECIALTY CAMPS
Mad Science is the world's leader in fun science for children. Your child will be able touch, see, hear, smell and taste what science is really all about. Mad Science camps offer a daily combination of in-class discovery and exploration, outdoor games and physical activities and hands-on applications of the scientific principles presented. Campers create a variety of take-home projects and participate in snack-tivities while exploring how science affects the world around us. Your child will have so much fun he may deny he was learning!
1) GROSSOLOGY - New for 2011 - Only Available at the S.C. State Museum!
In this Exclusive Camp at the S.C. State Museum your child will be able to explore the disgusting side of science with some of the slimiest, stinkiest and downright yuckiest creatures on earth in this New Camp. Each camper will also have the opportunity to explore the New Animal Grossology exhibition at the Museum. Featuring sophisticated animatronics, interactive learning games, and imaginative animated characters adapted from the best-selling Grossology children’s book series by author/science teacher Sylvia Branze. Oozing with disgusting science and interactive learning games, this exhibit is sure to provide a unique perspective on the animal kingdom.
NOTE: All Camps at the S.C. State Museum include a Free Tour of the "Animal Grossology" Traveling Exhibit, Pass to the Museum and additional tours during camp!
This camp is a half-day program that can be extended to a full-day through our Combo Camp Option with the Brand New "Crazy Chemworks" Camp - please see below for details.
2) GROSSOLOGY (Only at the State Museum) + CRAZY CHEMWORKS = Combo Camp Combo Camp is a combination of our half-day camps (Grossology and Crazy Chemworks) to create another full-day option for you. We have several additional Combo Options to choose from. This Combo Camp is ONLY offered at the S.C. State Museum.
Explore the fundamentals of robotics with this informative and entertaining robot kit. Hyper Peppy is an intelligent robot with a touch/sound sensor. If it comes in contact with an object or hears a loud noise (such as hands clapping), Hyper Peppy automatically reverses, then turns left before embarking on a new course.
The Institute for Childhood Resources has selected Hyper Peppy robot kit as Dr. Toy’s “Top Ten Creative Products” winner and “100 Best Children’s Products” winner. Dr. Toy says, “A sure fire winner for a new adventure for a your child.” Also, it has been selected by the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association as “Top 10 Toys to Rival Computers”.
4) NEW LOCATIONS - New for 2011

5) BEFORE & AFTER CARE is only available at the S.C. State Museum for only $25!
In response to many requests from working parents, you may now extend the full-day camp from 9am - 4pm to 8:30am - 5:30pm. Before & After Care will be available at the S.C. State Museum. Please consult our schedule for camps and dates. An additional charge of only $25 for this supervision will apply. Please see Camp FAQs for additional details.
6) COMBO CAMP OPTIONS (2 themes in 1 week & save $)
A Combo Camp is a combination of our half-day camps to create another full-day option for you. These camps are offered AM (9-12), PM (1-4pm) OR as a Combo Camp as a FULL Day option from 9-4pm (Before & After Care options also available) . If you choose the Combo Camp option your child will be able to participate in 2 Themed camps in 1 week saving you MONEY! Please refer to the Camp Schedule for all Combo Options at your favorite location. We have several additional Combo Options to choose from.
7) Bring a Mad Science camp to you! - Camps may still be available if you can gather a minimum of 12 campers and provide a place to meet. Please see Camp FAQs for additional details.
