FCPS 3rd Grade

Living Systems–

“All About Animals” looks at how animals adapt to outside stimuli and how these adaptations can carve the animal into a fading niche. Learn about food chains, producers, consumers and how animals adapt in order to survive. Kids learn how animals defend themselves through the use of camouflage, mimicry and more!

Physical Science–

In our workshop “Matter of Fact,” we learn about physical and chemical reactions. Students will get to build model molecules and mix together different chemicals to see if they produce a chemical or physical change. Finally, we use our new knowledge of chemistry to make Mad Science putty to take home!!

Force, Motion and Energy -

In “Mad Science Machines,” kids learn the scientific definition of “work” and explore simple machines. Through hands-on experiments, participants will see how screws, wedges, inclined planes and wheels make work easier and discover how they are used everyday. Use your knowledge from this class to build your own catapult to take home.
