The below topics correlate to the previous curriculum. Curriculum 2.0 topics will be coming soon. Please call if there are specific topics that you would like us to cover.
Living Things-
In our workshop “All About Animals” , we bring in real animal claws, quills, and fur for everyone to touch, see, and discuss how animals use these to protect themselves. We look at how camouflage, mimicry, and communication can be important for animals. We see how all of these are important for worms by exploring these creatures and making our own terrarium to take home!
OR
Mad Science also offers “Life in the Sea” where we take a look at the challenges of living underwater. We discuss the layers of the ocean and how underwater animals adapt to live in these different areas! The children look at swim bladders and the different ways that whales, sharks, and squid eat! Everyone has a chance to observe some cool preserved animals from the ocean and get their own absorbent sea creature to take home!
Myself and Others -
Our program “Seeking our Senses”, is a great addition to your lesson as we take a detailed look at our five senses. We learn how our senses work better when they work together by testing them separately. We “see” how our eyes can play tricks on us with some optical illusions, test our ears with listening games, use our noses to “taste” sodas, and use the sense of touch to figure out some mystery objects. Finally, play our faces game to see how characteristics are similar among people.
OR
We also offer “Body Basics”, which is a wonderful supplement to your curriculum, where we discover the wonders of our bodies! We learn how the heart is really a pump! We discover the science of why bones are round and we see how our lungs breathe! Everyone even gets to make a cool skeleton puzzle to take home!
