| Mad Science – East Midlands opened its regional office in Nottingham in September 2006. We have since worked with over 500 primary schools in the East Midlands delivering a range of enrichment services.
We have also developed partnerships with –
Nottingham City Council’s Family Learning and Gifted and Talented Teams, Nottingham City Council’s Education Improvement Partnerships, Nottinghamshire County Council Family Learning Teams, Derby City Family Learning & Gifted & Talented Teams, Snibston Discovery Park, Creative Partnerships, the BSA (British Science Association) and the East Midlands STEM Partnership.
An independent evaluation of Mad Science (2005) by Char Associates found that Mad Science:
- Increased science content knowledge - Pupils who participated in Mad Science experienced a gain of 41.3% in their science content knowledge.
- Increased attitude that science is “fun” - Pupils participating in Mad Science showed an increase of 18.6% in their attitude towards “science is fun”.
