Workshop Topics

 

Dinosaurs - The children take on the role of paleontologists in order to understand the range of work scientists do.  As part of the session, they make their own t-rex tooth to take home.

Where's the Air? - In this fun, hands-on session, children will learn about the principles of air pressure and get to make their mini helicopters or mini vortexes

Amazing Animals - Interactive session where children investigate owl pellets to gain an understanding of the food chains and scientific methods such as dissection!

Bubbles & Ice - Spectacular session focusing on Dry Ice demonstration and the children attempt the 'impossible' by making square bubbles.

Sun Awareness -  Children learn about the dangers of UV and get to make their own sun bracelets/key rings to keep themselves safe in the sun.

Fab Forces/Pushes & Pulls - Isaac Newtons 3rd Law of Motion is the basis of this workshop.  Explained through the use of floating balls, indoor rockets and soap powdered boats.

Crazy Circuits - Discover the amazing link between electricity and magnets that has changed our lives forever.  Children build some simple circuits as well as experiencing some hair-raising and shocking electrical demonstrations.

Marvellous Materials - An introduction to the world of atoms and how the work - to gain an understanding of bonds the children make their very own pot of slime to take home!

Changing States - How do we get solids, to liquids to gases? Our chemicals can show you how!  The difference between what makes a solid and liquid, imploding cans, hand boilers and some liquids turning into solids before your eyes! 

Wriggling Worms & Natural Habitats - Hands on experiments with live worms.  By the end of this session, children will have found a new admiration for our subterranean movers.
