SCHOOL AGE

NASA: Journey into Outer Space
Ages 7-12

Join Mad Science as we team up with NASA: From our Earth’s atmosphere to the outer reaches of our solar system, this hands-on program sends children on a quest for exploration! Comets, planets, stars and more are all waiting to be discovered. Learn about the four forces of flight, the challenges of space travel, and explore the science involved in rocket construction as you build your own Skyblazer II Rocket™! Travel to the end of the rainbow and make a sunset, use your Bead Dipper™ to create a 3-dimensional glow-in-the-dark constellation, see comets up close as one is formed before your eyes, and take home your very own Catch-a-Comet™!

Red Hot Robots
Ages 8-12

Join Mad Science and our Radical Robots for a scientific journey through circuitry and sensors.  Explore several different types of robots….robots that follow lines and sounds, robotic arms like the ones you see in the big factories on TV (well, smaller than that, but you get the picture).  You will even play tag with robots that you control!  Complete the camp by building your own robot to take home!

Go Mad in the Lab!
Ages 6-12

Shake up a flask of fun in the lab as a junior chemist! These five half-days of chemistry are packed solid with cool reactions. Campers put on some goggles and change liquid to solid and back again. They get to handle laboratory tools, build and break molecules, and pick up some tricks on chemical changes.

The Chemistry Mystery
Ages 6-11

What’s the mystery all about? Find out in this camp all about cool chemistry. We’ll explore the basics of chemistry with some radical reactions and slippery slime! Want to know who stole the ice cream? Become a detective and use evidence and clues to catch the crook. After we’ve fingerprinted the felon with our own Personal Profiler, we’ll celebrate by making and eating our own ice cream! Crack codes, get crazy with chemistry, and even make your own chocolate candy!

How Does It Work?
Ages 6-11

Take an in-depth look at the science behind everyday inventions and cool science in this camp about the mechanical world. We’ll see how real-life inventors make their ideas come to life while making our own inventions and building an incredible Image Inverter. Learn about simple machines and radical robots and even build your own catapult. Become a Junior Engineer and help build a giant geodesic dome that we’ll all climb inside!

Mad Science All-Stars
Ages 6-12

Take a trip with some of the pioneers of science and see how they changed the world.  Campers will learn a variety of sciences from chemistry and growing their own crystal gardens to space exploration and making a planisphere to track constellations in the night sky.  Dive into the world’s oceans and safari into the animal world.  It’s going to be a fantastic voyage!

Secret Agent Lab
Ages 6-12

Look out 007—the Mad Science Spy Academy is in session! Using powers of observations and the Inspectikit, our young forensic scientists will have all they need to get started on their detective adventure. Become a super spy and learn clever ways of performing tasks in this hands-on view at the science that spies use. From decoding messages to metal detectors and night vision, campers will have the opportunity to check out spy equipment and step into the shoes of a spy in action!

How Does Your Garden Grow?
Ages 3-5

Mad Science explores the way things grow in this “down-to-earth”, half day preschool camp. Learn about plants by dissecting seeds, making leaf rubbings, and creating farmable fruit and veggie prints. Investigate the world of worms…yes, WORMS! Put on your Bee-utiful Bug Costume and flutter by the camp as you learn about one of a flower’s favorite pollinators! Come see what the buzz is all about! You can even make your very own butterfly bracelets!
