Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation
Mad Science and the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation understand that when a child has a chronic or life-threatening medical condition, a family's life as they know it comes to a halt. To brighten their lives, a little each day, Mad Science is teaming up with Starlight to benefit children in your community.
Mad Science hosts Hospital Happenings™ events and Great Escapes™ activities, two signature Starlight programs that crete recreational diversions for seriously ill children both in and out of the hospital.
Our entertainment, education and family activity programs have been proven to:
- Distract children from their pain.
- Help children better understand and manage their illnesses.
- Empower children to address the social, emotional, and medical aspects of living with a serious illness.
- Connect families facing similar challenges so that no one feels alone.
Research studies conducted on select Starlight Starbright programs indicate patient benefits such as:
- Reduction in pain and distress.
- Greater willingness to return for treatment.
- Increased sense of peer support.
- Increased knowledge and sense of responsibility for managing disease.
- Increased ability to cope with their disease.
Mad Science of Long Island is actively taking donations that go straight to the Starlight Foundation.

Scholastic
Mad Science has forged a powerful relationship with Scholastic Inc., the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books. The deal involves the creation of a 12-book series of Mad Science fictional novels for children. Over 1 million copies of the books have already been sold.
Scholastic distributed the series first through the Scholastic Book Club. After realizing the popularity of the series, Scholastic launched a retail distribution program supported by a national marketing campaign. Scholastics remarkable success in the school market and excellent reputation in the publishing industry was a perfect match for the Mad Science brand.
Each title in the Mad Science series represents an exciting mix of fantasy and science, and features main characters with the same energy and humor found in every Mad Science presentation. Set in a sixth-grade science lab, the novels focus on such themes as explosions, spy science, space, optical illusions and the science of sports.
Scholastic continues to introduce young people to the joys of reading with the successful Mad Science series of books, said Jean Feiwel, Sr. VP and Publisher of Scholastic. The exploits of Professor Von Offel and Ethan Flask have inspired kids to learn more about the world of science in a fun and educational way. We are committed to the Mad Science book series which we believe is an evergreen brand that will be around for a long time. Jean Feiwel, Senior Vice President and Publisher, Scholastic
