Camp Descriptions & Codes
All of our full day camps, we have 2 instructors and are limited to no more that 25 children per camp. Following is a brief description of each one:
**NEW** SECRET AGENT LAB - SAL
(ages 6-12, entering 1st grade)
Become a Mad Science secret spy and take a fascinating journey into the world of detection, forensics and classified information. Go undercover and decode messages from other agents using your top secret clearance. Join the Mad Science Bureau of Investigation and sniff out forgeries and counterfeits.
EARTH and BEYOND - EAB
(ages 6-12, entering 1st grade)
Mad Science invites you to decipher the world around you. Use Morse code to send secret messages to your friends. Get a taste for space as you launch a 'water bottle rocket', test soil for "Martian" life and experiment with space suit design. Discover pollution solutions by baking nachos with solar power. Test what your toes have to do with tennis. Grow jaws and claws to feed your beastly stomach. (formerly Claws, Codes & Constellations)
3,2,1…BLAST OFF!! (Rocketry) - BLO
(ages 6-12, entering 1st grade)
Mad Science invites you to launch your knowledge of flight as you build your very own rockets. Experiment with different kinds of propulsion systems as you use your new knowledge to blast off, track and recover different kinds of rockets. Treat your stomachs to some rocket snacks. Have a “Rockin” good time at this rocket camp!
ROBOTICS- ROB
(ages 7-12, entering 2nd grade)
Join us for a week of fun with robots. Learn about the uses of robots in our world. Spend time playing with super-cool red-hot robots. Use your skills to build your very own working robot to take home to “live” with you. Join us this summer in our Mad Science robot world. ***Camper must be at least entering 2nd grade.
SCIENCE IN MOTION- SIM
(ages 6-12, entering 1st grade)
Discover how things move with science. Take apart pellets to see what an owl cannot digest! View the world through a camera obscura that you make yourself. Join a team of camper engineers and build bridges, domes, cubes and pyramids. Assemble and control pulleys, levers, catapults, simple machines and megapinchers! Make your own sidewalk chalk, crystal gardens and chromatography-dyed T-shirt!
Science Sleuths- SS
(ages 6-12, entering 1st grade)
Go inside a scientist’s lab and discover the secrets you’ve always wondered about. Use your skills as a chemist to make your own radical reactions with batteries, a chemical clock, and more. Compare fingerprints and discover the mysteries of DNA as you fine-tune your secret agent skills. Make “brain goo” and check out your bones as you travel the organ trail and uncover the secrets of your own body. Become a Mad Science detective and use your forensic skills to solve the “great Cookie Caper”.
