Programs for Girl Scouts 

Science is an important part of the educational experience. We¹re saddened when girls sometimes tell us, "I¹m not good at science and math." Did you know that a female¹s brain is actually better suited for scientific pursuits because they can often multitask with more success than their male counterparts?

Our Mad Science workshops and Fun Stations are designed to encourage girls to try science experiments and get those brains thinking in a new way. Many of Mad Science of McHenry County programs are taught by women who are active in the scientific world and have a real interest in the topics.

PROGRAMS FOR BROWNIES

Try-It workshops (90 minutes)

Our Try-It workshops are fun, exploratory and very hands-on. The girls will do several experiments and activities that will satisfy the requirements needed to earn their Try-It! We bring all the materials and supplies. You bring your curiosity!

  • Building Art (make a Geodome!)

  • Earth and Sky (build your own Cloud Finder!)

  • Movers (construct your own Mad Flyer!)

  • Science in Action (get a pair of Diffraction Glasses!)

  • Science Wonders (make a Crystal Garden!)

  • Space Explorer (build a Constellation Wheel!)

 

 

PROGRAMS FOR JUNIOR GIRL SCOUTS

Junior Badge Workshops (120 minutes)

The Junior Girl Scout workshops are a great way to get the girls thinking about the world around them. We¹ll do hands-on activities that challenge and inspire, and they¹ll satisfy the requirement for the badge. We bring all materials.

In addition to single Troop workshops, why not combine with other Troops or your Service Unit to have a Mad Science Badge Earning Fun Station Day? We'll set up badge workshops as Fun Stations that the girls will cycle through to do the activities as a group.
