In this camp, each camper will  build the RocKit Robot. It’s an intelligent robot with a touch/sound sensor. If it comes in contact with an object or hears a loud noise (such as hands clapping), RocKit Robot automatically reverses, then turns left before embarking on a new course.

REACTIONS IN ACTION CAMP
(Half Day - For ages 7-12)

Campers will get microscopic as they explore the basic building blocks of the universe – atoms and molecules and how they interact in interesting combinations. From ooey, gooey slime to movie special effects to how our tongues discern taste, all of our activities involve the three common states of matter.

Slippery Science -Explore the exciting world of polymers and movie special effects. Campers investigate the inner workings of silly putty and transform two regular liquids into an oozing batch of slime! Then they participate in creating their own movie magic and take a crazy bubble shower.

Chemical Reactions - Uncover the mysteries of chemistry and the effects acids and bases have on our daily lives. Play alchemist as we turn a nickel into gold (well, almost), test for acid rain and create a film canister cannon.

Lasers and Light  - Uncover the hidden mysteries of ordinary light and the extraordinary properties of lasers. We will create an awesome chemical energy display, investigate holograms and use a real laser to design an animated light show and play a friendly game of laser tag.

Taste Sensations -The age-old question is answered – Coke or Pepsi? – as campers create their own sodas while investigating their sense of smell and taste. Campers will experiment with heat, centrifugal force and sugar compounds as they explore the science behind cotton candy – and get to eat their results!

Sight and Sound -Seeing, and hearing, is not always believing! We will explore the realm of optical illusions and movie sound effects while making a real periscope and altering our voices through our Voice Modulator
