Camp Description:   Schoolhouse Chess Camp for Beginners
Join Schoolhouse Chess Camp and learn to play the most popular game in the world! This camp brings chess pieces to life using creative personalities that fascinate and make learning fun. Play with our giant chess set - the biggest you have every seen! All participants receive their own magnetic chess set, Schoolhouse Chess Comic Book, take-home materials and snacks.

Beginner Camp Objectives
Students will learn: piece movement, board setup, rules of play, check, checkmate, castling, capturing, trading, tag team attacks, and basic strategy. Students will also study the strategies of chess master Paul Morphy.

Camp Description  Intermediate Schoolhouse Chess Camp
This camp will teach you the sophisticated chess tactics and strategies to make you a winner!  Students will learn the higher concepts of chess notation, “en passant”, forks, pins, and swarming. All participants receive their own magnetic chess set, Schoolhouse Chess Intermediate Comic Book, take-home materials and snacks.  Registrants must have taken the beginner camp or have equivalent chess skills.

Intermediate Camp Objectives:
Students will learn: chess notation, attacking the “f” pawn, En Passant, forks, pins and swarming. Students will also study the strategies of chess master Jose Raul
Capablanca.

Camp Description:  Advanced Schoolhouse Chess Camp
Join Schoolhouse Chess Camp and learn advanced chess tactics and strategies to make you a winner! Campers receive their own magnetic chess set, take-home materials and snacks. Registrants must have taken the intermediate camp or have equivalent chess skills.

Advanced Camp Objectives:
Students will learn: principles of openings, types of draws, promoting the pawn, endgame secrets, discovered attacks.  Students will also study the strategies of chess master Judith Polgar

 Method of Instruction:
Teaching strategies involve storytelling, demonstrations, guided practice and game playing. Below is the schedule for a typical camp day:
