Crazy Chemworks is the perfect introduction to elementary chemistry. Junior chemists will record their adventures as they compile a journal throughout the week.
Chemistry Club
Learn real laboratory techniques at your personal lab bench, and continue your research at home with your very own Graduated Gear kit. Slide down the colorful pH scale into the world of acids and bases! Then test the pH extremes at home with your own test paper. Take home a popper stopper reaction tube kit to experiment with your own chemical reactions.
Reaction Time
In this day, learn to detect the difference between a chemical reaction and a physical reaction.. Experiment with several chemical reactions with colorful and sometimes sensational results! Build your own model molecules with your very own set of Atomic Coins. Learn about the chemical reaction called oxidation and watch it corrode copper and devour steel. Learn the secret and amazing reaction that makes re-usable hand warmers so hot. Take home a Mad Science Action Flask kit and have a blast!
Chemical Combo
Probe the properties of light and explore the science behind of glow-in-the-dark technology. Learn about the fantastic physics of fluorescence. Use your Blacklight Writer to make secret messages that only appear under ultra violet light! Learn all about polymers and how they make our modern world possible. You will make your own take home polymers with very slimy results. Use your slime to compete in the Slime Olympics.
Crazy Concoctions (Not all activites included in four day camp)
Stick it to the walls, and push the power of tape to the limits in this adhesive hour on things that cling! Build a bond with glue and get attached to Professor Beakerdude. Learn about the chemistry in your own kitchen. Students will be introduced to the laboratory that we call our kitchens. Test your breakfast cereal for iron and use a chemical color change to test foods for protein. Learn the secret science of the fizzy reaction of Diet Coke and Mentos. Using kitchen ingredients, students make their own play-dough to take home.
Cool Cool Chemistry (Not all activites included in four day camp)
Manipulate matter in all of its three states! Melt metal in boiling water and freeze water with just a breath of dry ice! Take a cloud shower and catch a fog filled boo bubble. Use your Thermo-color Cup to test the temperature of liquid matter in your home! Watch a camphor powered boat zip across water. Use chemistry to put “pop” in soda and enjoy the tasty results. Watch your very own colorful crystal garden grow before your eyes.
