Mad Science Preschool Programs are engaging hands-on learning experiences for preschool children aged 3-5. Each workshop is 45 minutes long and an interactive, age-appropriate exploration of a specific science topic. From air, our animal friends and butterflies to water, weather and worms, each themed program is designed to captivate the curious nature of young children. Preschoolers enjoy engaging demonstrations, perform simple experiments and will discover how science can help us better understand the world around us!

Examples of Our Many Preschool Programs
LIFE SCIENCES
Bugs Students explore the world's most abundant animals! How do insects defend themselves? What is their role in the ecosystem? Students explore a giant preserved grasshopper up close and take home a bug eye lens.
Sea Sand and Surf Children explore the science of the sea as they learn what sand is made from, how shells are used by animals for protection, and what types of animals live in the ocean. They make their own model ocean in a bottle to take home.
Eye to Eye Students use telescopes, binoculars and other scientific equipment to see the world in different ways. They discover the different parts of the human eye using a model. Kids are amazed as we demonstrate what tricks their eyes can play.
Animal Friends Explore the animal kingdom and learn about animal habitats, camouflage, life stages, and the different sounds that animals make. Examine feathers, fur, and fish scales up close. Take home an animal mask.
Keep in Touch Children learn how sensitive their fingertips are. They realize just how difficult it is to identify objects using only their sense of touch. They take home their Model Magic™ sculpture.
Listen Closely With a wave motion model and a twirling tube in hand, children will learn that sound travels in waves and can be heard in a variety of pitches. Children will also be privy to secrets about sound effects made from ordinary materials!
Taste and Smell Young scientists experiment with taste and smell sensations. Imagine the fun as they carbonate and taste their own soda pop then take home a painting they make with scented colors.
World of Worms Use magnifying glasses and other scientific tools to explore the fascinating body of a worm. Learn about their eating habits and where they live. Practice eating like a worm and take home your own worm
EARTH AND SPACE SCIENCES
Dandy Dinosuars Discover how those huge reptiles lived, what they had for dinner and what may have caused them to disappear. As junior paleontologists, take part in a simulated dinosaur dig. Take home a cast of a Tyrannosaurus Rex tooth.
Rocket Deomonstration Discover the dynamics of rocket flight. Touch and feel our scale model rockets while learning the HOW and WHY of rocket flight. Youngsters will experiment with stomp rockets, balloon rockets and take part in a NASA style launch of model rockets which soar into the air and return to earth by parachute. Take home a Finger Flinger.
Space Frontiers Young astronauts take an imaginary space trip where no kids have dared to go before. This voyage includes stops at remote planets, moons, stars and comets. Children return to planet Earth with a Squeeze Rocket.
Weather Wonders This class introduces preschoolers to weather with interactive and hands-on activities. Concepts focus on heat, wind, water and how the water cycle works in our atmosphere. Junior meteorologists make a windsock to take home.
PHYSICAL SCIENCES
Adventures In Air We cannot see it, smell it, or taste it but air is an important part of our lives. Discover the power of air through demonstrations and hands-on activities. Power a pinwheel, feel the swirling air from a vortex generator, take home a toy glider.
Bubbling Potions Have you ever seen a square bubble or stood inside of a giant bubble? Do all this and more. Make and take home a bubblewand.
Color Lab Children learn about primary colors, secondary colors, and color mixing. Roy G. Biv helps students learn about the color spectrum. Take home a pair of Rainbow glasses.
Water Works Experiment with fun water activities. Discover the meaning of words like float, sink, density, absorption and surface tension. Turn little water droplets into big drops. Students go home with their own Sparkle Tube.
Mad Mixtures Children learn that chemistry is a type of science that is all about mixing things together and observing the cool reactions. Experiment by mixing a mini explosion, floating colors, and more. Mix your own play dough to take home.
