The World Around Me

Mad Science invites your child to discover the world around us. Children will explore fifteen different topics during this fun five-day camp. Following are only a sample of some of the activities that they will be doing each day.

Bugs

Students will be introduced to the world of the creepy, crawly creatures through hands-on activities. They will learn how to identify an insect, learn about their habitats, and defense systems. They will make their own insect model to take home.

Human Body

The students will meet Mr. Bones and learn about bones, muscles, and other body systems.

Animal Friends

Get ready to meet some interesting animals, identify animal sounds, and learn all about animal’s babies and their parents.

Space Frontiers

The entire class takes a trip through the solar system where each student can become a Mad Science Astronaut in training. Together we learn all about the elements of space. Students will even get to take home their very own squeeze rocket.

Mad Mixtures

In this ‘explosive’ session students get introduced to simple chemistry fun.  We will simulate a volcanic eruption, observe protein molecules in action as they turn into explosive colors, and more. We will make our own modeling dough to take home.

Lights On

Students will get fascinated with light. They will learn how shadows and rainbow colors are made using a rainbow a catcher.  They will mix colors of light and explore the world of color.

Dinosaurs

Students will be introduced to the differences between meat eating and plant eating dinosaurs. They will take a look at some dinosaur teeth up close.  A mini dinosaur dig will engage their attention as well as their scientific skills. They will make their own T. rex tooth cast to take home.
