FAQ
Welcome to the Mad Science After-School Enrichment Club! We are pleased to offer our unique brand of hands-on science to your children. During this 4 or 6 week program, your child will explore a different topic each week, with fun take-home projects the children make in class. The following information addresses some of the more commonly asked questions about our Mad Science programming. Please read this FAQ for your information. Thank you for supporting Mad Science of Winnebago/Boone/Dekalb/Ogle.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS
Mad Science will follow the inclement weather and school safety policy of the school district in which we are instructing. Not all schools within the same district have the same policy so please check our website or call our office at 815-332-8404 if unsure. If a class needs to be cancelled for any other reason, Mad Science will contact parents of each child in our program. A good rule of thumb: If there is no school that day, or the school has cancelled all after-school programs, there is no Mad Science Club either.

NOTE FOR TEACHER
If you can not pick up your child and/or the responsible party for pick up is not listed on your sign up sheet you must send a note or call our office to inform us of a change. Our office phone is 815-332-8404.

PARENT EXPECTIONS
Mad Science has expectations of the parents whose children are enrolled. Only children with a sincere interest in our programs and the necessary maturity to handle a 1-hour after-school experience are encouraged to enroll. An approved guardian must pick up each child at the specified location promptly at the dismissal of class. Parents are welcome to observe any class and to participate where appropriate.

PICK-UP
Safety is of the utmost importance to us during dismissal. The Mad Science Instructor will meet with the children at the front door of the building for pick up. Parents and guardians must sign their student out.

LATE PICK-UP
Please note your class dismissal time. Your child needs to be picked up on time. Our instructors have other responsibilities and can not be delayed by late pick ups. If you are late more than once you will receive a form that will need to be signed and returned to the Mad Scientist. If an unavoidable delay will prevent you from picking up you child on time, please inform us immediately at 815-332-8404. If after 30 minutes if we can not reach someone by phone the local authorities will be called for the safety of your child.

SNACK
Many parents ask if they should send a snack to class with their child. We will allow time for a healthy snack at the beginning of class, but as in regular school, we may have children with PEANUT ALLERGIES. To ensure their safety, please make sure the snack you provide is not a peanut product, or a product produced in a facility that handles peanuts.

STUDENT BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS
Mad Science strives at all times to provide fun and safe science activities for all children participating in our classes. To fulfill this commitment, we ask that ALL children enrolled adhere to basic behavior guidelines. School rules are still in effect during our after-school program. Mad Science implements a 3 STRIKE YOU’RE OUT POLICY. Any child that continuously disrupts, disrespects, or displays any negative or aggressive behavior will receive a strike. Any child that reaches three strikes will receive a red notice to be signed by their parent. If after that notice the child still can not display positive behavior they will have to leave the program WITHOUT REFUND!

We are thrilled to be spending time with your child, sparking or expanding their interest in science with our fun exciting programs. We are proud to be a part of your community and welcome feedback from students and parents alike.

Sincerely,

Mad Science Staff
