Summer Camp Programs 2009

Join Mad Science this summer for some unique, hands-on science fun!  We have 3 options this summer to keep your child’s minds occupied and their curiosities peaked!   This will surely be a bright spot in any Summer vacation!

All camps are age appropriate for children 5 – 13 years old.

Crazy Chem Camp
(Anchorage / Eagle River only)

Shake up a flask of fun in the lab as a junior chemist! These three half-days of chemistry are packed solid with cool reactions. Campers put on some goggles and change liquid to solid and back again. They get to handle laboratory tools, build and break molecules, and pick up some tricks on chemical changes.

Sci, Spy & Beyond

This camp will have campers using their skills in several different scientific techniques. With a combination of space, spies, sea and scraps, campers will be transformed into all around science experts.  Children will learn about the atmosphere and weird space phenomena, the cool world of spies and forensics and finish the camp by exploring world of oceans and recycling.

Campers will need to bring an empty plastic soda bottle with lid to day 3 of this camp.

Racin Rockets

In this single day, 6-hour camp, campers will explore the properties of thrust.  After a general science presentation, campers will build their own rocket racers and compete in a drag race against other campers. After learning about horizontal thrust, campers switch to vertical thrust by building their own rocket and participating in a group rocket launch. All materials are supplied for this camp!

Campers will need to bring their own sack lunch for this camp.
