When children go home they will have spent a day learning about art, science, cameras, light, and, of course, having fun!!
Art in ACTION
Art in ACTION allows children to discover art in nature through nature prints and chromatography. Children explore how science and art are connected through studying distorted images, interesting techniques, and many art styles. Children even learn how to identify an art forgery. Then, the children explore the art world of Hollywood—in this case Movies—by learning how special movie effects are created. As part of their exploration of movies, full-day campers have the opportunity to create their own mini-movie which they can record as a special memento from their day! Solar Cooking, mini lakes, and fun recycling is just part of the exciting scientific discovery day!
The Science of Sport
We’ll explore how your body, foods, depth perception, gravity, and balance all come together to create an amazing playing machine! Check out the “sweet spot”, discover how much air your lungs can hold, and how strong your muscles are, and why you need electrolytes. Discover how your toes can influence what games you do best at. Learn why some types of playing balls bounce higher than others and why your head isn’t made for bouncing. It’s a fun way to learn how science influences sports.
Birds and Butterflies
Mad Science has gone to the birds…for a great day of science exploration! We’ll learn how adaptations have led to so many different types of birds and how to make a birdseed food mixture that’s just right.
