Air Blast

In this party we do several experiments with air pressure and a few environmental experiments. Through telling stories with each experiment performed by the Mad Scientist we teach the children about what chemists are doing to help eliminate waste on the planet, how hot air and cold air move differently, how air moves even if we can’t see it, and many other things! Some of the experiments include:

« Insurance Policy – This magic trick gets the kids engaged while trying to figure out the card trick involved.

« Eggbert – Eggbert ate too much and can’t get into his home (flask). We will use air pressure in order to get Eggbert back inside his house.

« Peggy’s Apartment – Peggy moved in and left a big mess of Styrofoam peanuts. We’ll use a chemical to get those peanuts out of her way.

« Eco-Foam – Learn how to pack things in an eco-friendly manner using Eco-Foam peanuts

« Vortex Generators – Discover how air pressure works while playing with these vortex generators

« Tornado Tubes – Tornados are vortexes – see how a vortex looks by shaking the tornado tube

« Pin in a Balloon – Watch the Mad Scientist stick a pin in a balloon without breaking it!

« Piezo Popper – Watch a small explosion using electricity in a film canister!

« Catch a Shadow – Use phosphorescent paper in order to catch each child’s shadow.

« Happy / Unhappy Balls – Discover how different materials that look the same can have much different properties.

« Slime – Each child makes a cup of slime and gets to take it home with them!
