Secret Agent Camp - Week 1 - Detective Camp

Step into the shoes of a detective—uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis. Become a super sleuth and learn clever ways of performing tasks in this hands-on view of the science that spies use. From decoding messages to metal detectors and night vision, campers will have the opportunity to check out spy equipment, and discover the technological tools of detection!

Discover Detection 1

Learn how to collect and analyze evidence like a forensic scientist!  Use water, flame and strength tests to identify materials.  Learn how to gather fingerprints and prepare them for identification.  Make a great-tasting fingerprint snack.

Discover Detection 2

Using your ears and eyes to collect evidence.  Interpret audio evidence, see how what handwriting can tell you about a suspect, and use UV illumination to discover hidden clues.  Use your suspect's shoes to track them down and see where they've been.

Science of Security I

Lots of ways have been developed to keep things safe from prying eyes and hands.  Which ones work, and how do they work?  Investigate locks and burglar alarms, then get your heads together with your team to build a better system and defeat the others'.
