JUNIOR SCIENTISTS
Dinosaurs, Colour and Space will all be explored in this fun and interactive workshop. We will introduce your Junior Scientists to some very, very old things, mix stuff together and peer into the skies above. Working as paleontologists, children will participate in a dinosaur dig and will investigate the differences between meat eating and plant eating dinosaurs. With amazing rainbows and cool, floating, liquid lasagna, the wonders of colour will be revealed. Your class will take a trip through the solar system, discovering many elements of space. Students will make a Dinosaur Tooth, Rainbow Slush and Crazy Dough to bring home with them.
SEEKING OUR SENSES
Children will discover the mysteries of touch, sight and hearing and will understand how the use of these three senses can teach them about the world they live in. With the use of a heat sensitive board we will demonstrate how their body heat can effect change. Good vibrations will ripple when students make cereal dance and learn how to make cool sound effects. During this hands-on workshop, students will conduct a series of experiments with magnifying glasses, kaleidoscopes, binoculars, a wave motion model and a twirling tube. Children will use an interesting and innovative material to model their very own creation. They will also make a Tambourine Shaker, and a Thaumatrope.
BUGS, BUGS AND MORE BUGS
Everyone will want to be an Entomologist after half a day of bug exploration. The fabulous realm of bugs will be revealed with amazing, hands-on experiments. The great question, ‘How do teeny, tiny bugs survive in such a big world?’ will be answered when students investigate a bug’s varied defense mechanisms. Children will forever high five all bugs once they discover the important role bugs play in our environment. Students will play a cool game of Bug Bingo and will sing the praises of their new bug friends. Students will receive a bug box and will create their own Plasticine Bug and a Noodle Bug’s Life Chart to bring home.
MAGNETIC ATTRACTIONS
During this stimulating workshop, students will visit the north and south poles. We guaranteed that you will not hear any static as children investigate the properties of magnetized materials. Everyone will get a charge out of passing common household items through our Mad Science magnetic test. During a series of stick-to tests, the sticky power of magnets and Velcro will be explored. Cheers will erupt when we investigate magnetic fields. Children will be excited to make and take home a fridge magnet and a Multi-Tool-Stick-To Tester of their very own.
