Mad Science and NASA have teamed up to bring you the excitement and wonder of space in the NASA: Academy of Future Space Explorers Program. We will take children on a voyage of discovery. With unique hands-on activities, amazing demonstrations and fun educational take-homes, this is an experience that is truly out of this world. In every class, children build a fun and educational take home to fuel their future explorations! Topics: Planets and Moons, Atmosphere and Beyond, Space Phenomena, Sun and Stars, Rocket Science, Space Travel, Space Technology and Living in Space.
Students will not believe their eyes as they examine different optical illusions and watch as light and colour interact, tricking their sense of sight. Children will participate in classes where their taste buds are put to the test - they will learn how their sense of taste works. Studying the scientific principles of heat, students build there own thermometer. Students will learn all about magnets and how they are used in our everyday lives. The basics of sound will be revealed with a cool Mad Science twist - children’s voices will be wildly distorted through a Mad Science sound machine. We will wow them with polymers in one of the most popular Mad Science Programs - Mad Science Putty!!! Educational, entertaining and sticky...what more could a kid wish for? Examining the world children interact with is an ideal way to explain complex scientific principles. Students will learn all about the science of flight and the forces that are involved in the process. Children will discover the basic scientific principles of magic and see how almost everything can be logically explained. Their reasoning skills will be put to the test as they become Junior Engineers, building and testing magnificent structures! We explore the amazing properties of water in a class called Wacky Waves, which is always a "splashing" success. Topics: Che-Mystery, Current Events, Fundamental Forces, Science of Magic, Stunt Planes, Super Structures, Under Pressure, Wacky Waves.
Students test their forensic skills as they become super sleuths in our Detective Science class. We explore the amazing world of insects, learning how these fascinating creatures live. Each child will construct a propeller driven race car as they learn about the power of mighty machines. We raise the curtain on the mysteries of movie making and special effects. Students explore the wild world of weather, investigating the power of wind, thunder, lightning and make an Ultra Violet light sensitive keychain. Topics: Bugs, Detective Science, Earthworks, Kitchen Chemistry, Science of Toys, Movie Effects, Machines, Walloping Weather As real Mad Scientists, students will learn to manipulate laboratory equipment, slide down the colourful pH scale and create a tiny world of atoms. Students will be wowed by polymers, in our popular SLIME class!!! They will probe the properties of light as well as explore unusual applications of glow-in-the-dark technology! 6) SCHOOLHOUSE CHESS Mad Science will introduce your child to the wonderful world of Chess. In our Schoolhouse Chess program we make the world’s most popular game a blast.! We bring the game pieces to life with vivid personalities and creative histories. Our imaginative characters accelerate the learning process and fascinate children. Students will improve their problem solving and critical thinking skills as well as their abilities of logic, memory and pattern recognition. Time will be allotted each week to challenge their fellow players and practice newly acquired skills. Schoolhouse Chess covers all rules, strategies, tactics and is adaptable to various skill levels. Each student will receive their very own magnetic chess set to take home.
