Pre-School Programs

Mad Science Preschool Programs are engaging hands-on learning experiences for preschool children aged 3-5. Each workshop is an interactive, age-appropriate exploration of a specific science topic. From air, our animal friends and dinosaurs to water, weather and bugs, each themed program is designed to captivate the curious nature of young children. Preschoolers enjoy engaging demonstrations, perform simple experiments and will discover how science can help us better understand the world around us!

 Following is a list of topics:

Ø       Seeking our Senses

An introduction to how our senses work and function. Explore all five senses and gain an understanding of their importance.

Ø       Dinosaurs

Examine real fossil casts, and explore the differences in the teeth of herbivorous and carnivorous dinosaurs. Students will participate in a mini dinosaur excavation and make a cast of dinosaur tooth to take home.

Ø       Butterflies

This hands-on look at butterflies provides preschoolers with an opportunity to find out how caterpillars change into butterflies, how butterflies eat and to even make their own butterfly model to take home.

Ø       Energy and Motion

Learn all about energy and motion. Discover that energy can be stored, some basic laws of motion and how things move. Experiment with ribbon dancers, tube racers, and slinkies.

Ø       Human Body

Children will learn about the human body, bones called the skeleton, muscles help people to move, and the heart pumps blood through the body bringing food and oxygen to all parts of the body. Children will take home their own human body puzzle.

Ø       Water Water Everywhere

Have fun with water. Discover why some things float and some sink, learn about surface tension and experiment with water absorption

Ø       Weather Wonders

Learn how heat, water, and wind, make weather happen and instruments to measure weather conditions. Make a windsock to take home..

Ø       Mad Mixtures

Interactive and hands-on activities will assist preschoolers with this introduction to mixtures and the science of chemistry.

Ø       Sea, Sand, and Surf

Learn about the science behind things in the ocean. See how sand is created and observe shells up close. Discover what creatures live in the sea and even play a game with a model turtle. Children will make their own ocean bottle to take home with them.

Ø       Space Frontier

Explore the sun, the planets, and other objects in space that make up our solar system. Learn how astronauts travel in space and about the special clothing to keep them warm.
