 | | We spark imaginative learning when school is out! These hands-on, one-hour science programs are themed around a particular area of science and include such topics as rocketry, magnets, polymers and even the science of toys. Children engage in exciting hands-on activities, watch spectacular demonstrations, participate in inquiry-based discussions and take home things that they have made themselves like model rockets, periscopes, Mad Science putty and more. Mad Science after-school programs offer children a chance to see just how cool science can be!

How can you have a Mad Science after-school club at Your School at NO COST to You at all?
Answer: Join MAD SCIENCE of Western New England's SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM!
Participating Schools Will Receive the Following Benefits:
Most schools are eligible to receive an auditorium show for the whole school at no charge! Alternatively, short 5-10 minute demonstrations during lunchtimes may be conducted.) These are held about three weeks before the start of the first after-school science club at the school.
- FREE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR CLASSROOM TEACHERS TO GIVE TO STUDENTS
Teachers who host a Mad Science after-school program in their classroom will receive a FREE scholarship to a Mad Science after-school program for one of their students. A great reward for a deserving student!
- FUND-RAISING ASSISTANCE
We want to support your school’s fund-raising efforts. Mad Science will provide a one hour Fun Hands-On Activity Booth at NO CHARGE for your fund-raiser!
- NO WORK for the school! Mad Science handles all the logistics (registrations, etc.)
WHATS THE CATCH? We ask only that you agree to host a Mad Science after-school enrichment program for two 7-week one hour sessions during the school year. After-school classes are most often funded by parents (approx. $12/child/week) so there doesn’t have to be any cost to the school at all! Programs can also be paid for in a single flat fee by the school. Prices include supplies & equipment. We’ll need the use of a classroom for each group of 20 students who register for the program.
Features
- After-school classes are held once a week the same day each week, last one hour and begin immediately after school (Days on which school is closed, early release days, and snow days are made up by adding days at the end of the session).
- Programs typically are designed as 7-week sessions (but can be varied).
- Minimum of 12 children, maximum of 21 children per class (19 for K-2 classes) Additional classes may be opened if registration exceeds the maximum for one class.
- For each class we will recruit a parent to assist the Mad Scientist (they also receive a free tuition for their child).
- Flyers that describe the program and contain a registration form section will be brought to the school by Mad Science (usually on the day of the show/demonstration).
Requirements
- We need a room for each class with access to water (in or near), electric outlets, and a table for the instructor. Ideal rooms will have tables instead of individual desks (for the children) and window shades.
- Distribute flyers (provided by Mad Science) the day of the show/demonstration (or the next day).
- School office staff should call Mad Science if unanticipated school closings (including any weather-related closings) or additional early release days will occur on scheduled Mad Science class days.
- Please distribute a class list to all teachers whose students may attend a Mad Science class so teachers can remind their students on Science Club days. (We can provide copies to distribute.)
At dismissal time we ask you to please hold After-School students until the last bus is called (to give instructors adequate time to set up their equipment before children arrive). Note: We ask that instructors be allowed to start setting up at least 10-15 minutes before the final bell (they can do so quietly on the side or in the back of the room so as not to disturb the teacher as they finish their day)
