Exploration Program 
 

Mad Science is proud to offer this unique new program for your entire school!

We will provide a staff of trained Mad Scientists that will guide your students on a fun-filled scientific journey. You and your staff don’t have to do a thing! We can set up in the cafeteria, outside or in any large school location, and can handle a full grade or up to 130 students per hour session.   We tpyically do 3 grades one day and the remaining three grades on a 2nd day

The following hands-on science booths are a few examples of what can be provided at your event.  Each activity engages children with fun science experiments that they can do themselves and many include items to take home. The activities are aligned with sunshine state science standards.   The same activities will be done with all grade levels; however, the explanations will change depending on the ages of the children.

  • Slime! - A Mad Science favorite!   Students will complete their own chemical reaction and transform two regular liquids into an oozing batch of their very own slime! (Scientific Principles: Polymers, States of Matter, Chemical Reactions)
  • HoverCraft Rides - Take a ride on our Mad Science HoverCraft while unraveling the forces of motion and the power of air pressure. (Scientific Principles: Motion, Air Pressure, Air Currents)
  • Electricity - Discover how lightning is formed and why static electricity likes it cool and dry. Get your hands on our Van de Graff generator – it’s a hair-raising experience! (Scientific Principles: Energy, Electron Theory, Conductivity, Friction, Electricity)
  • Bubbling Potions - A dry ice extravaganza! Witness a coin shivering from the cold, play with our unique Mad Science Shower, and create the same awesome smoke illusions used in the movies! (Scientific Principles: States of Matter, Sublimation, Physical Reactions)
  • Sonic Sounds - Children will get to actually “see” sound through creating waves and experience how it travels differently through the 3 states of matter, make movie sound effects and use our sound processor to warp their own voice, with lots of cool effects. (Scientific Principles: States of Matter, Energy, Sound) 
  • Whirligigs - Have some fun with gravity and build your own Mad Science Whirligig! Watch colorful beads swirling and spiraling as you explore the effects of gravity. (Scientific Principles: Gravity and Simple Machines)
  • Lava Lamps -  The science of color, density, and wave action will be all explored here when children get to make their own lava lamps to take home. A real splash and very cool!

 Your Mad Science “EXPLORATION PROGRAM” includes the following:

  • One or two days of exciting, hands-on activities (usually 60  minutes per grade)
  • Up to five educational booths for children to explore.
  • Age-appropriate one-hour sessions.
  • An overview at the beginning of each session explaining the activities and scientific concepts.
  • A review at the conclusion of each session.
  • “Exploration Quiz” for students.   
  • Photographs of your students’ experience provided on a CD (as an option)
