What is Mad Science?
Mad Science is the world’s leading FUN science provider. We offer a variety of science enrichment programs for children, including after school courses (Mad Science clubs), in-school fieldtrips (workshops) birthday parties, special event-assemblies, summer camp courses, scouting programs and preschool courses. Our approach is simple. We use exciting activities and spectacular demonstrations to capture the attention and imagination of children. Our goal is to spark the curiosity of children and instill a clear understanding of what science is really about and how it affects the world around them. Mad Science has been providing science enrichment since 1985 and is in over 220 locations around the world. Our programs are presented in the inquiry based science method and correlate with both national science and Florida’s sunshine state (FCAT) standards for science.
How big are the science clubs and where will they take place?
We believe in quality over quantity, and limit each class size to 20 students. This allows us to adhere to the interactive and hands-on approach that makes Mad Science programs special. If we have more than 20 children who wish to participate, it will be our intention to offer a second class to fill this need. All science club meetings will take place at your school/center
What is a System?
Our systems (described on our website) are 6 week after school science courses.(6 hours of fun science!) We currently have 7 different after school systems covering a wide variety of science topics and are creating more all the time. We usually run one system (6 week program) each semester so currently with 7 it would take three and a half years of running every semester to come back to the same systerm which we ill have updated.
Can my child get in the same club as his/her friend?
We divide our students into age appropriate groups so we can present our fun science at an age appropriate level. So it is more than likely that if they are of similar age (or in the same grade) they will get placed in the same group. You can alwys feel free to call our office at any time to request that as well.
Do you have a guarantee?
Yes! Our guarantee is simple. If your child attends the first session of the course and does not wish to continue, you do not pay anything, not even for the first session. There are no refunds available after after the 2nd session.
Can children expect an exciting yet controlled atmosphere?
Yes! Mad Science strives at all times to provide fun science activities to all children. In an effort to fulfill this commitment, we ask that all children enrolled adhere to basic behavioral guidelines. We realize that the hands-on, high-energy nature of our program excites and motivates children, and our programs are specifically designed to harness and direct that excitement. Our instructors set clear boundaries and expectations as to appropriate conduct, and we will hold all students to these expectations. If necessary, Mad Science may ask that a child be removed from his or her Mad Science Class, and in such a case, a partial refund will be happily awarded. We ask your cooperation, should any parent be notified of discipline problems. Please know that it is our intention to provide children with, not deprive them of exciting and fun science. It is only when a child interrupts this positive learning atmosphere that we would take any such action.
What if my child misses a session?
If you know in advance that your child will need to miss a specific date, please let us know prior to registration and the tuition fee can be adjusted accordingly. However, once we have started the course, Mad Science has invested in the required course materials and personnel and we are unable to offer a refund for these missed sessions. If your child does miss a session and you call our office we would be more then happy to send the take home item and card to your home and even a special gift home to your child.
Is there a discount for additional family members?
Yes! We offer $10 for any additonal sibling in oure programs. Unfortunatley we are unable to offer that on our website via online registration. You can call our offiice at any time and we can get the information and discount then.
Are Parents allowed in the sessions?
Yes! Parents are not only allowed they are invited and encouraged to attend any of our programs. We like to make science a family affair. Be careful though: WARNING you are present you may be selected to participate in one of our many wacky experiments or asked to help a team of children.
Will you call to confirm enrollment?
NO – You will only be contacted if your child does NOT get in the class. Unless you hear from us, assume your child is in and we will see them the first day of class!
